Most of us think of Valentine’s Day as a day for lovers. We consider it to be the day that is set aside each year for men and women to tell their significant others that they are loved. We picture Champaign toasts, intimate dinners for two and, of course, the exchange of gifts like red roses, jewelry and candy.

St. Valentine’s Day really is a traditional day for lovers but love comes in many sizes, shapes and forms. We love our mates or our partners but we also love our parents, our grandparents, our children, and others who have had great influence in our lives. St. Valentine’s Day provides us with an opportunity to tell these other people that we love them and that we appreciate them.

By all means, send the love of your life a dozen red roses, a box of exotic chocolates, a bottle of vintage Champaign and plan a wonderful intimate evening but don’t forget to acknowledge others that you also love.
